Remote Work: Sharpen Your Skills

The shift to remote work has undoubtedly come with its own set of challenges, but the right approach can help your team stay engaged and productive. As work environments continue to shift, agility and adaptability are key! Let’s explore some ways to manage remote work.

Set clear goals

Make sure everyone understands objectives for the team and their individual role in achieving them. This clarity serves as the platform to establish guidelines such as response times and preferred communication channels. When your team knows how they fit into the bigger picture, it helps them stay on track.

Stay connected

It’s vital to maintain a sense of community and collaboration. Establish a cadence for your team meetings and always communicate an agenda in advance so that your team comes prepared and engages in discussion. Use communication tools like the Giraffe app to keep everyone in the loop.

Prioritize work-life balance

Regularly reviewing the list of priorities will help to pinpoint what requires immediate attention.  Make sure to respect boundaries and personal time. For instance, don’t schedule lunch meetings; and encourage your team to take breaks and manage their time effectively.

Guide and coach

Have regular 1:1 check-ins, to better understand how you can support your team, as each individual may have a unique need. Encourage them to focus on their own development, which will help them stay engaged. Have quarterly reviews and make adjustments based on their input.

Adapting to evolving needs requires empathy and resilience! Be open to trying new tools and different ways of doing things.
