Get comfortable letting go.

Trying to do everything yourself is a sure way to find yourself drained and burnt out. Effective leadership requires delegation, which can be a lot easier said than done. Let’s help you take things off your to do list and get comfortable outsourcing.
Delegating empowers your team to develop their skills and have ownership over their work, while giving you more peace of mind. It’s a win-win for both of you! This allows you more energy to pour into other priorities and allows others to improve their skills.
Letting go can feel uneasy. Here are some practical steps:
- Identify what to delegate. If it’s a task that doesn’t require your specific attention or is time consuming, set it to the side and consider who can take over.
- Choose the right people. Having an understanding of your team’s strengths and weaknesses is needed to do this well. The next step is to match the task with the right person. This could be leveraging someone’s strengths or helping them improve a skill.
- Provide clarity. Set clear expectations so that people understand what their benchmarks are. Give them a solid idea of what success looks like, the scope of work, and any important deadlines. Make sure they have the resources they need.
- Feedback and more feedback! Discuss what went well, what can be improved, and give positive reinforcement. This helps your team grow.
This process will help you build trust with your team and free up your mental space! For resources to help you provide clarity, give feedback, and schedule effectively, check out the Giraffe app. You can request a demo here.
